Power Washing in Chester, NJ — Done by People Who Know These Houses
Most of the calls we get in Chester come down to the same thing: shade and moisture. Between the Borough and the Township there's a ton of mature tree canopy — the properties off Old Chester–Gladstone and the older lots near Main Street sit under oaks and maples that hold humidity against the siding for days after a summer storm. That's why the north and east faces green up with mildew while the sunny sides look fine.
Housing here runs from downtown mixed-use buildings along Main Street to brick and cedar-shake colonials on bigger wooded parcels, plus plenty of stucco and vinyl. Cedar and stucco can't take a pressure wand — you'll blow out the wood or force water behind the finish — so those get a low-pressure soft wash with the right cleaner. Vinyl and brick we can hit harder, but even then it's the solution doing the work, not raw PSI.
The other Chester constant is the roof. Those long shaded asphalt slopes streak black with Gloeocapsa algae, and once it's there a pressure washer will strip your granules. We soft wash roofs so the streaking actually dies off instead of just getting knocked loose for a month.

The house looks brand new again, every detail was handled with care, and the difference is unbelievable. They were professional, thorough, hardworking, and took real pride in their work. It’s rare these days to find a company that exceeds expectations, but they absolutely did. Highly, highly recommend the Galo Brothers to anyone looking for top notch service and incredible results!”

“Gallo Bros powerwashing team headed up by Joe, did a great job on our exposed, lakefront home. They went above and beyond to remove dirt and mildew from our house siding, soffits and multiple bluestone patios and walkways, as well as our dock and wood furniture. They also took great care to avoid or work around multiple bird nests which had recently hatched babies pre fledge. I will definitely call them in the future!”
Cathy Marshall
“We hired Gallo Bros Power Washing to power wash, re-sand and seal our 20 year old paver patio and front walk. They also performed a few repairs and reset a few areas that needed attention. We had never had this done professionally before. From the beginning estimating phase to the final coat of sealer, we were very happy with the services provided, the price and the final result, which they also warrantee for 1 year. I highly recommend Gallo Bros. Power Washing and will use them for other services in the future.”

Power Washing in Chester — FAQ
My cedar-shake colonial is getting green on the shady side — will power washing damage the wood?
Straight pressure absolutely can — it raises the grain, gouges soft cedar and drives water behind the shakes. On Chester's cedar and stucco homes we soft wash: low pressure plus a cleaning solution that kills the mildew and algae at the root, so the shady north face stays clean instead of greening back up in a few weeks.
There are black streaks running down my asphalt roof — is that dirt or something worse?
That's Gloeocapsa magma, a hardy algae that thrives on the shaded, tree-covered roofs common all over Chester. It feeds on the limestone filler in shingles. We treat it with a soft-wash roof application — never high pressure, which tears off granules and voids most shingle warranties. The streaks fade as the algae dies, and it stays gone far longer than a quick blast.
My paver driveway looks stained and the joints are washing out after winter — can you fix that?
Yes. North Jersey freeze-thaw plus road salt is rough on pavers and Belgian-block aprons — it lifts efflorescence, breeds moss in the joints and pulls the sand out. We clean the pavers at a controlled pressure, treat any moss or organic growth, and can re-sand the joints so the surface locks back up before the next freeze cycle.
How much does power washing cost in NJ?
Most jobs run about $200–$500 depending on the surface and square footage. Driveways, walkways and patios are priced by size — you get a firm quote free.
What can you power wash?
Concrete driveways, walkways, patios, pavers, decks and other hard surfaces. For roofs and siding we switch to soft washing so nothing gets damaged.
Can power washing remove oil and rust stains?
Most of them, yes. We use surface cleaners and targeted treatments for oil, rust and grime. Deep-set stains may lighten rather than vanish — we'll tell you straight before we start.
