Paver Sealing & Polymeric Sand in Closter, NJ

Re-sand and seal your pavers to lock out weeds, stains and wash-out for years.

Paver Sealing & Polymeric Sand in Closter, NJ

If you live in Closter, you already know what our winters do to hardscape. The freeze-thaw cycle we get here in northern Bergen County—snow one week, a 45-degree thaw the next—works sand right out of your paver joints and lets weeds and ants move in. We're Gallo Bros, a family-run exterior cleaning crew from North Jersey, and paver sealing is one of the jobs we get asked about most in town.

A lot of the homes off Closter Dock Road and around the older parts of Harrington Avenue have brick or concrete paver walkways and patios that have been down for years. Before we seal anything, we clean the surface, pull the old joint sand, and re-fill with polymeric sand so the joints actually lock up. Then the sealer goes on. Skipping the prep is why some jobs fail in a season or two—we don't cut that corner.

We'll tell you straight whether your pavers even need sealing yet. Some don't. If yours do, we'll walk the patio or driveway with you, explain matte vs. wet-look finish, and give you a real number. No pressure, no pushy upsell.

Gallo Bros powerwashing team headed up by Joe, did a great job on our exposed, lakefront home. They went above and beyond to remove dirt and mildew from our house siding, soffits and multiple bluestone patios and walkways, as well as our dock and wood furniture. They also took great care to avoid or work around multiple bird nests which had recently hatched babies pre fledge. I will definitely call them in the future!

We hired Gallo Bros Power Washing to power wash, re-sand and seal our 20 year old paver patio and front walk. They also performed a few repairs and reset a few areas that needed attention. We had never had this done professionally before. From the beginning estimating phase to the final coat of sealer, we were very happy with the services provided, the price and the final result, which they also warrantee for 1 year. I highly recommend Gallo Bros. Power Washing and will use them for other services in the future.

Paver Sealing & Polymeric Sand in Closter — FAQ

How often should I reseal pavers in Closter?

For most Closter homes, every 3 to 5 years depending on sun exposure, foot traffic, and how our winters treat the surface. Driveways that get plowed and salted usually need it sooner than a shaded backyard patio.

What's the best time of year to seal pavers in North Jersey?

Late spring through early fall, when we get a stretch of dry days and temps stay above roughly 50°F. We avoid sealing right before rain or a hard cold snap so the product cures properly.

Do I really need polymeric sand?

If your joints are washing out, growing weeds, or you've got ants working the seams, yes. Polymeric sand hardens between the pavers, resists erosion, and holds up far better than plain sand through our freeze-thaw cycles.

Will sealing change how my pavers look?

It can. We offer matte finishes that keep a natural look and wet-look sealers that darken and enrich the color. We'll show you the difference on your own pavers before committing.

Do you serve areas around Closter too?

Yes. We're a North Jersey outfit and regularly work neighboring Bergen County towns like Demarest, Haworth, Alpine, and Harrington Park along with Closter.

How much does paver sealing cost in NJ?

Most patios and driveways run about $1.50–$3.50 per square foot depending on condition and sealer. We clean, re-sand and seal — and quote it all up front, free.

What is polymeric sand and why does it matter?

Polymeric sand goes in the joints between pavers and hardens when wet. It locks the pavers in place and blocks weeds, ants and wash-out far better than regular sand.

How long does paver sealing last?

Usually 3–5 years before a re-seal, depending on traffic and sun. Sealing also brings back the color and makes the surface much easier to keep clean.

Do you clean the pavers first?

Always. We deep-clean, remove old failing sand, re-sand the joints with polymeric sand, then seal. Sealing dirty pavers just locks the dirt in — we never skip the prep.
