When is the best time to seal pavers in Allendale?
Late spring through early fall is ideal. You want a stretch of dry, warmer weather so the pavers and new polymeric sand can fully cure before our North Jersey freeze-thaw season hits. We avoid sealing in cold or wet conditions because it won't set right.
Do I really need polymeric sand instead of regular sand?
For most Allendale patios and driveways, yes. Polymeric sand hardens in the joints and resists the washout and weed growth that regular sand can't handle through our wet springs and heavy summer storms. It also holds up better to the freeze-thaw movement.
How long does paver sealing last?
Typically around 3 to 5 years depending on sun exposure, traffic, and the finish. A driveway that takes daily vehicle traffic and full sun will need resealing sooner than a shaded backyard patio.
Will sealing make my pavers slippery?
It can if the wrong product or finish is used. We choose the sealer based on your surface, and for walkways and pool decks we can use finishes with a lower-sheen, less slick result. We'll talk through options before we start.
Do you clean the pavers before sealing?
Always. We deep-clean and re-sand first. Sealing over dirt, moss, or old failing sand just locks the problem in and can cause a cloudy finish. Proper prep is the whole ballgame.
How much does paver sealing cost in NJ?
Most patios and driveways run about $1.50–$3.50 per square foot depending on condition and sealer. We clean, re-sand and seal — and quote it all up front, free.
What is polymeric sand and why does it matter?
Polymeric sand goes in the joints between pavers and hardens when wet. It locks the pavers in place and blocks weeds, ants and wash-out far better than regular sand.
How long does paver sealing last?
