Paver Sealing & Polymeric Sand in Mendham, NJ
Re-sand and seal your pavers to lock out weeds, stains and wash-out for years.
Paver Sealing & Polymeric Sand in Mendham, NJ
If you've got pavers in Mendham, you already know the two things that wreck them: shade and water. A lot of the older lots over toward Brookside and Ralston sit under heavy tree canopy, and that keeps paver patios and walkways damp long after a storm. Damp joints grow moss and let weeds root, and once the sand washes out, ants move in and the pavers start to rock underfoot.
The driveways here are their own problem. Plenty of homes off the hills around Mountain Avenue have long, sloped paver or Belgian-block-bordered drives that take a beating every winter — freeze-thaw cycles heave the joints and road salt eats at the surface. By spring you're looking at loose sand, white efflorescence hazing the surface, and gaps between the stones.
That's what polymeric sand and sealing are for. We clean the pavers, pull the weeds and old joint material, re-sand with polymeric that locks in place, then seal to slow water intrusion and hold color. On shaded Borough properties especially, sealing is what keeps the green from creeping back every summer.

“Gallo Bros powerwashing team headed up by Joe, did a great job on our exposed, lakefront home. They went above and beyond to remove dirt and mildew from our house siding, soffits and multiple bluestone patios and walkways, as well as our dock and wood furniture. They also took great care to avoid or work around multiple bird nests which had recently hatched babies pre fledge. I will definitely call them in the future!”
Cathy Marshall
“We hired Gallo Bros Power Washing to power wash, re-sand and seal our 20 year old paver patio and front walk. They also performed a few repairs and reset a few areas that needed attention. We had never had this done professionally before. From the beginning estimating phase to the final coat of sealer, we were very happy with the services provided, the price and the final result, which they also warrantee for 1 year. I highly recommend Gallo Bros. Power Washing and will use them for other services in the future.”

Paver Sealing & Polymeric Sand in Mendham — FAQ
My patio pavers are under big oaks and always look green — will sealing actually stop that?
Sealing helps, but the fix starts with cleaning. On shaded Mendham lots the moss and algae feed on constant moisture, so we clean the surface, re-sand the joints with polymeric to close the gaps organic growth roots into, then seal. The seal makes the pavers shed water faster and gives you a surface that's far easier to keep clean — but under heavy canopy you'll still want a periodic wash.
Will polymeric sand hold up on my sloped driveway after the salt and plowing all winter?
It holds up much better than regular joint sand, which those long sloped drives off the hillier parts of town lose fast to runoff and freeze-thaw heaving. Polymeric hardens in the joints so it resists washout and locks the pavers together. We do recommend sealing over it, because sealed pavers stand up to road salt and de-icer far better than raw ones going into a North Jersey winter.
What time of year should I get paver sealing done in Mendham?
Late spring through early fall is ideal — you want dry conditions and temps warm enough for the sand to set and the sealer to cure. A lot of homeowners here book after spring cleanup once the pollen and winter grime are off. We avoid sealing right before a wet stretch, so we watch the forecast and schedule around it.
How much does paver sealing cost in NJ?
Most patios and driveways run about $1.50–$3.50 per square foot depending on condition and sealer. We clean, re-sand and seal — and quote it all up front, free.
What is polymeric sand and why does it matter?
Polymeric sand goes in the joints between pavers and hardens when wet. It locks the pavers in place and blocks weeds, ants and wash-out far better than regular sand.
How long does paver sealing last?
Usually 3–5 years before a re-seal, depending on traffic and sun. Sealing also brings back the color and makes the surface much easier to keep clean.
Do you clean the pavers first?
Always. We deep-clean, remove old failing sand, re-sand the joints with polymeric sand, then seal. Sealing dirty pavers just locks the dirt in — we never skip the prep.
